But I\u2019m here to tell you\u2014absolutely not! Breaking boundaries have no limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through <a href=\"https:\/\/greggvanourek.com\/thinking-its-too-late\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/greggvanourek.com\/thinking-its-too-late\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">various studies<\/a>, it&#8217;s show that American life expectancies have stretched out more in the recent decade. What&#8217;s more, one of those studies reported that only 7% of people were working their dream career while 54% were overall happy with their jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What does this all mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With longer life expectancies, we have more time to life enriching lives. With stability and money to come, investment in ourselves is equally as important as working our dream career. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For myself, I&#8217;ve always wanted a stable career and a family. My own hobbies and bucket list ideas have been put to the side because I wanted to have stability first. Now that I have that, I started wondering why I was putting of my dreams of travelling the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are so many individuals in their 60s, 70s, and even beyond, who reignite that spark and chase their dreams with the same fiery passion they had in their youth. I\u2019ve come across countless stories that serve as reminders that age is nothing but a number, and I\u2019d love to share some of them with you. There\u2019s no age limit on setting new goals, dreaming bigger, and going after what truly matters. If anything, the biggest regret we carry through life isn\u2019t in failing, but in the roads we didn\u2019t take.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For myself, I think it came to me realizing that I no longer looked like how I did in my early teens or early twenties. For most women, I think it&#8217;s hard to separate our past selves from our futures &#8211; especially when considering the way we physically changed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In my head, it&#8217;s always the thought of &#8220;I should&#8217;ve done these things when I was younger.&#8221; Really &#8211; it was all invalid excuses because I knew that deep down, I could also do them now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that&#8217;s exactly the mindset that pushed me to chase my childhood dreams now as an adult with stable income and a mother to two children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From one 2021 study, 7% of American reported that they knocked off one item from their childhood bucket-list, while 78% reportedly didn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We often miss out on the greatest opportunities because we hesitate. Life will never wait for us. We must chase after it &#8211; even our goals and dreams, especially when it comes to breaking boundaries: inspiring people who show dreams have no limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now that we understand the important of having the right mindset, let&#8217;s get into how our past selves don&#8217;t define who we are in our present timeline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_I_Was_Doesnt_Define_Who_I_Am_Now\"><\/span>Who I Was Doesn&#8217;t Define Who I Am Now<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When I look back, I realize that failure in my younger years doesn\u2019t have to follow me forever. With time, I\u2019ve gained so much\u2014knowledge, skills, experiences, and relationships. It all adds up, promising a different and, in many ways, more rewarding journey ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a study from the <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC7212472\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC7212472\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Library of Medicine<\/a>, experiencing failure actually facilitates self-improvement. We tend to make more mistakes and miss our goals when we\u2019re younger\u2014not because we lack intelligence, but because we haven\u2019t failed enough to fully learn from those experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Failure is often seen as a negative mark on someone\u2019s timeline. But in truth, it\u2019s a necessary part of growth. It pushes us to reflect, adapt, and evolve into better versions of ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I was younger, I believed that trivial things\u2014like academic grades\u2014were the key to success. As a new college student, it was hard to see beyond the world of classrooms and assignments. Over time, I realized that while grades have their place, they aren\u2019t the full story. The skills you hone and the connections you build often matter more in bringing you closer to your dream career and the life you envision than any letter on a transcript.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I&#8217;ve learned and what I want to stress is that without failure, we wouldn\u2019t truly understand what success means\u2014or appreciate it when it comes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When looking back on your past self, don&#8217;t feel ashamed or embarrassed. While stereotypes about age still exist, they\u2019re starting to soften. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an article from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/monitor\/2023\/03\/cover-new-concept-of-aging\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/monitor\/2023\/03\/cover-new-concept-of-aging\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American Psychological Association,<\/a> &#8216;ageism&#8217; comments that come from all generations are rooted in falsehood. In fact, scientists prove the opposite can be true &#8211; such as how older folks can become more generative and creative with age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than ever now, people of all ages are finding more opportunities and support systems to go after their dreams. Isn\u2019t that empowering?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From a post on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/archive\/ca\/entry\/how-my-bucket-list-has-changed-with-age_b_2899930\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/archive\/ca\/entry\/how-my-bucket-list-has-changed-with-age_b_2899930\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Huffpost<\/a>, a contributor discusses her experience of building a bucket-list and tackling all the while being at the age of having grandchildren. And why shouldn\u2019t I be one of them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Living life and doing things were they don&#8217;t seem common at certain ages, such as traveling the world at 80 may seem &#8216;eccentric,&#8217; but have you ever stopped to wonder why we think like that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Eccentric&#8217; is defined as doing unconventional things &#8211; and sometimes &#8211; people pair the word unconventional with age related hobbies. While people of certain ages may share common hobbies, that doesn&#8217;t mean there&#8217;s no room to be open to other hobbies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watching the movie &#8220;Up&#8221; with my kids made me realize that the movie is the epitome of this discussion topic: hobbies that you developed when you were young don&#8217;t have to die out as you age. Age doesn&#8217;t limit your hobby options either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s so important to keep ourselves in motion regardless of it&#8217;s finding new puzzle games or physical activities as we age because it keeps us healthy. I learned to be open and stay curious about trying new hobbies because all hobbies are rewarding in their own way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The point I&#8217;m making here is, age shouldn&#8217;t limit your hobbies. Instead, it should motivate you to try out more hobbies than ever before. He went through a lifetime of challenges, failures, and setbacks before starting his fried chicken business at the age of 65. His recipe was rejected 1,009 times before it finally took off, and by 88, he was a millionaire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My point is &#8211; his story reminds me that with perseverance, dedication, and hard work, success can come at any stage of life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">In this modern era, age doesn&#8217;t define success. Your own interests and efforts create that change. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another modern day success stories can be found in your own hometown. Some of your beloved eateries could&#8217;ve been founded by love and a tale of immigration &#8211; meaning that not all delicious gemstones have been there for generations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ve known a story of an immigrant couple who decided to open up their own<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/sanjose\/news\/2023\/04\/21\/pho-ha-noi-owners-build-vietnamese-dining-empire.html\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/sanjose\/news\/2023\/04\/21\/pho-ha-noi-owners-build-vietnamese-dining-empire.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> pho restaurant<\/a> in America after having a daughter. They were in their late 30s, tending to a daughter, and investing in their own shop.  Now, they have chains throughout Northern California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, success doesn&#8217;t come easily. It takes perseverance. She traveled around the world in an old car, setting her sights on all five continents. From China to Canada, through deserts and freezing lands, Heidi\u2019s journey is proof that there\u2019s no age limit on exploring the world\u2014or myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women empowerment has been all the rage but so it breaking boundaries: inspiring people who show dreams have no limits &#8211; which is what I&#8217;m here to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As we age, we can be susceptible to more health problems, which is why we should try our best to eat, sleep, and listen to our body&#8217;s needs.
