They offer a unique way to bring teams together, enhance connections, and infuse holiday spirit even when we’re apart.
Are you ready to jet set your next virtual holiday?
We will provide you 25 Virtual Holiday Party ideas that are suitable for all types of teams and cater to various interests. These fun virtual holiday party ideas will easily help keeping the morale of your team high through creative festivities.
Virtual Holiday Party Ideas for an Unforgettable Celebration
1.Holiday-Themed Virtual Escape Room

Last year, my team participated in a virtual holiday-themed escape room. As soon as the countdown began, chaos and laughter filled over Zoom. Dividing into small groups, we each raced to solve puzzles with reindeer, sleighs, and holiday recipes. My favorite part was when our team leader, known for his serious demeanor, excitedly yelled, “The gingerbread code is 1234!”—and it worked!
You can do that too.
Holiday-themed virtual escape rooms are an interesting way to celebrate the holiday season. Here’s how you can do it:
- Choose a platform that provides a holiday-themed or customizable experience. There are various platforms online that have themed escape rooms related to holidays such as Escape Hunt and The Escape Game.
- Divide your participants into groups into people with varied skills and personalities.
- Set the time for the event that works for all participants. Send Calendar invites to the participants before the event.
- Give prizes to the winners: the fastest or the team that solved more puzzles. The prizes can be digital gift cards or other fun holiday-themed gifts.
If the game is too quick-paced for your own pacing, don’t worry because we have another category coming right up if you like gifts.
2.Online Secret Santa Gift Exchange

This beloved 1973 game remains a classic and for many reasons: Secret Santa. Who doesn’t love a game involving a bit of secrets and a gifts?
Using Elfster, we organized a virtual Secret Santa last December. My Secret Santa sent me a Spotify gift card, knowing my love for music. During the live gift reveal, I saw everyone’s reactions as they opened their presents. The highlight was a teammate receiving a custom digital painting of their dog—it was heartwarming to see their reaction. You can plan the gift exchange too. Here’s how:
- To set up, identify and list of participants, and make them aware of the budget limits.
- You can simplify the process by using an app — like Elfster or Secret Santa Generator. Register an account on the app, create an event and invite the participants via email or shared link.
- Set up a budget limit, usually between $10 to $20. You can set up a theme like digital art, eco-friendly gifts or homemade to make it more fun.
- Use the gift exchange app to assign Secret Santa to each participant. The app will send notifications to the assigned recipient.
- Ask the participants to fill out their wish lists so their secret Santa can get some ideas.
- Participants should purchase gifts based on the wish list of their assigned person. For virtual gift exchanges, consider digital gifts like e-gift cards, online subscriptions etc.
- Send the gifts on time to the recipient’s address for the event.
- You can host the gift reveal where participants can reveal their Secret Santa and open their gifts in the meeting. Participants will be able to share their reactions with the team.
Virtual Secret Santa Gift Exchange will help maintain the holiday spirits when proximity might make in-person contact seem challenging.
Now, if you’re considering another idea without running up the bill, we can look into investing into buying an item that could win a crowd over: Ugly Sweaters!
3.Virtual Ugly Sweater Contest

A virtual Ugly Sweater contest is where participants can wear the ugliest or funniest holiday sweater. This tradition that began during the 1950s and is now something I take very seriously.
Last Christmas, I decided to DIY a sweater with battery-operated fairy lights. When it was my turn to show off, I turned off my room lights, and my sweater lit up like a Christmas tree, and I ended up winning the “Most Creative Sweater” award. We shared screenshots of everyone’s sweaters in our Slack channel for even more laughs.
You can organize this contest in a zoom meeting or any other online meeting platform. Here’s how:
- Send invitations to the team including details and time of the virtual contest.
- Decide some judging categories to make it interesting. Categories can be: Most Creative Sweater, Most Festive Sweater, The Funniest Sweater and overall Ugliest Sweater.
- Ask participants to vote on every person’s sweater.
- The winning sweater can be given a gift card or consider sharing the sweater on your social media or company’s internal communication channels to have a good laugh.
Making participants tap into their creative outlet is a great way to create memorable holiday celebrations that breaks the ice.
If getting physically creative feels challenging, let’s turn it towards ways to stimulate your brain. What better way that a fun round of holiday trivia?
4.Holiday Trivia Challenge

A holiday trivia challenge is a quiz game where participants answer questions about traditions, movies, music, and history.
The goal is to correctly answer as many questions as possible to earn points and compete for the top spot. Our holiday trivia was hosted on Kahoot, and the questions ranged from classic Christmas movies to obscure holiday traditions. I’ll never forget the moment when I guessed the year “Home Alone” was released in 1990 and my team erupted in cheers.
A virtual holiday trivia challenge can be arranged using the following tips:
- Prepare holiday-themed questions such as holiday-themed movies or music. Use online tools like Kahoot, Quizizz, or TriviaMaker to create and host your game.
- Divide the participants into teams. Make the rules clear before starting the game.
- Keep the questions interesting and track the progress of each team. Some trivia apps track progress and award points on their own to make it easier.
- Winning team should be given some prize or gift cards by other teams.
Keep the Challenge interesting and remember to be encouraging, not too competitive.
Kick off your virtual holiday party with fun and engaging icebreakers to get everyone in the festive spirit. Check out our list of 101 Fun Christmas Icebreaker Questions to spark joy and laughter, helping your team connect and enjoy the celebration from the start.
Now, it getting hands-on for the season is your jam, you may be in luck. As the going goes, “What better way than feeding the soul than through the belly?”
5.Virtual Holiday Cooking or Baking Class

Arranging a virtual holiday cooking or baking class with your team can be rewarding. We hired a professional pastry chef to teach us how to bake holiday cookies. My attempt at decorating a snowflake cookie turned into a lopsided blob while someone’s perfectly piped reindeer cookies stole the show.
We even shared our favorite recipes on a Google Drive folder afterward to bring home to our families.
You can hire a professional chef or just do the cooking or baking yourself. Creating a menu can ensue lots of fun, whether it be full meaty meals to simple cookies.
Here’s how you can get started:
1.Hire a Professional Chef
If you hire a professional chef, cooking or baking can be more of a learning session. The chef can guide the team while cooking and offer expert tips.
2.Host A team-led Class
Someone from the team who is good at cooking or baking can hold a team-led class and guide the participants during the cooking or baking session. This approach is interactive, making teams work together smoothly.
After the cooking is done, consider creating a google drive photo album where everybody can add pictures of their dishes. The team members can share the recipes with each other with prizes being awarded to the member with ‘The most presentable dish’ or the most delicious looking dish.
Now, I know not all of us may be great in the kitchen. If you’re like me and you love a good cocktail, steer towards a mixology class.
6.Holiday Mixology Class

Host a virtual cocktail or mocktail making class. For our virtual holiday mixology class last year, our mixologist guided us in making holiday cocktails. My peppermint martini turned out great, but watching a coworker accidentally use salt instead of sugar for their rim was priceless.
For your holiday mixology class, you can select a theme representing such as Christmas’s Classics or Winter Wonderland. Here are some ideas for your next mixology event:
Hire a Professional Mixologist
You can hire a professional mixologist as they will provide you with unique recipes and offer useful tips on mixing for mocktails or cocktails.
Have A DIY Session
If someone on the team is an expert in mixology, ask them to lead the class and other team members can get help from the team captains.
- Send out the invitations for the mixology class in advance. Include the list of ingredients the participants should prepare in advance keeping the theme of the class in mind.
- Share recipes and pictures of the mocktails with each other and on your social profiles and enjoy the festive drinks with your team.
If you know that outside of work, you already have other parties that includes a lot of food and drinks, consider hosting a brain stimulating event: Scavenger Hunts!
7.Virtual Holiday Scavenger Hunt

When we did a virtual holiday scavenger hunt, we had 10 minutes to find holiday items around our homes, from candy canes to fuzzy socks. I’ll never forget running into my attic to grab the tree topper while yelling, “I’m still here, don’t disqualify me!”
Virtual holiday scavenger hunt is a great idea to motivate your team to find hidden items and give them purpose.
- For preparation of the holiday, arrange a video call and give participants the list of things related to the holiday that could be found at home. They can be a gift-wrapped item, an item in the colors of red and green, an emblem of the holidays, a candy cane or a mug in a colorful design.
- Explain to the participants to find and bring on camera the items within the given amount of time. This way all the participants will stay active and entertained.
- Introduce a scoring system where points are given for each item found. Consider giving points for more creative finds.
- A scorekeeper should be assigned the responsibility of keeping scores and updating the scoreboard at the end of each round.
- Declare the winners at the end and reward people with fun prizes or e-gift cards/holiday items.
The scavenger hunt will increases team spirit and provides a creative approach for celebrating the holidays remotely.
If you’re looking for even more inspiration for your virtual holiday celebration, Team Building Hub offers a wide range of creative and interactive virtual holiday party ideas to make your event memorable and fun. From team challenges to festive games, you’ll find plenty of ways to keep everyone engaged and in the holiday spirit!
Now, if you’re a whizz when it comes to your vocabulary, why not bring that competitiveness to a virtual game night?
8.Seasonal Virtual Game Night

A virtual game night during the festive season can stimulate your brain and keep everyone sharp. We played Jackbox Games with holiday themes during our virtual game night session. The “Drawful” prompts featuring Christmas traditions had us in fits of laughter.
You can enjoy it if your team is fun and competitive.
- Some online games include; Pictionary, Charade, and holiday bingo. Use holiday icons, sayings or songs as thematic prompts and bingo cards for the holiday twist. Add a leaderboard for recording scores and keeping the competitive spirit alive.
- Keep the game night exciting by switching between the games. This way, there is variation and everyone stays engaged. You can even set a particular time for each game, with short breaks in between.
- Award some small prizes or gifts to top performers as rewards.
When you think of the holidays, one of the things that touches your sense the most is the warm smell. Sugar and cinnamon waft through the air, and sometimes — it might lead you right up to a gingerbread house.
9.Online Gingerbread House Decorating Contest

An online gingerbread house decorating competition is a lively way to cheer up your team in the cold season. We built gingerbread houses live on camera for our online gingerbread house decorating contest during the holidays last year. My roof caved in halfway, but the “demolition” theme won me extra creativity points from the judges.
You can do that contest following these steps:
- Have a video meeting and give direction to participants on how to prepare and display their gingerbread house. Either deliver gingerbread kits to all participants in advance or invite them to assemble their own gingerbread kit at home.
- During the contest, people can record their beautifully decorated gingerbread houses.
- To make it more interactive, set judging parameters which include things like ‘Most Creative’ ‘Most Festive’ or ‘Best DIY’. Let the team members choose what they like best or select a jury to help you decide.
- Declare the winners and use prizes like e-gift cards, or holiday raffle prizes to encourage participants to make an effort.
Building gingerbread houses are an easy activity that can reveal how creative someone can get with whatever candy’s they may have on hand. Plus, it makes a mean decoration.
If getting to know each other better is something that your team is interested in, conquer those questions now by hosting a virtual talent show. You just might be able to find out if someone has a hidden talent.
10.Virtual Talent Show

We planned a Virtual talent show last year. I performed a parody holiday song with a ukulele for our virtual talent show. A teammate’s holiday-themed magic tricks topped the competition, leaving everyone quite speechless.
A Virtual Talent show is a great idea to showcase the holiday spirit and talent of your team. The talent can be of any type i.e. singing, dancing or a seasonal recipe.
- Make sure to involve all the team members in this. Plan in advance by emailing everyone about the talent show. Setup a schedule so every participant can perform on their turn according to the schedule.
- Make it interactive by adding a pole where the team members can vote for their favorite performance.
- As an incentive, announce special prizes for special performances like ‘the best holiday singer’ or ‘the most talented performer’.
The talent show will boost everyone’s confidence in their talents and help you paint a better picture of each person and their personalities. Learning about each others’ talents can be more rewarding that a cash prize.
Now, a classic way to get everyone on the same holiday wavelength can be through music. Get everyone singing the same notes and see who’s secretly a talented singer!
11.Holiday Karaoke Party

Holiday karaoke parties can be fun, even virtually and here’s why. Singing classics like “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” complete with a Santa hat and backup music can get anyone giggling. The best part was when a usually shy teammate belted out a hilarious rendition of “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.” Everyone was in stitches by the end.
Here’s how you can bring the ho ho ho to your next virtual event:
- Virtual karaoke using apps such as Smule, Karafun, or Singa can be organized because they have simple features for easy sharing and participation. Add some holiday classics to keep the festive spirit alive.
- Introduce winning categories like Best Performer or Most Festive Singer and reward the winners with some prizes or gift cards
- Ask the participants to dress up for the holiday and use festive virtual backgrounds.
Singing is a great way to get your heartbeat up without causing too much sweat, but if you’re more invested in making physical things that can last, I got a crafty treat coming right up!
12.Online Holiday Craft Workshop

Organizing an online holiday craft workshop is an exciting and productive activity program.
We did a similar virtual ornaments crafts workshop last year where we received kits in advance and spent the evening crafting ornaments. My ornament, a glitter-covered snowman, looked less than professional, but it was fun comparing creations with everyone. My manager’s attempt at a “minimalist” tree was just three beads glued to a stick.
You can arrange an online holiday craft workshop for your team using these tips:
- Arrange a virtual meeting where everyone has to show their craft skills by doing simple craft activities such as making holiday decorations, ornaments or cards.
- You can send activity kits to your team in advance before the Workshop or give them simple ideas for the workshop. The crafts should be themed around the holiday and everyone should showcase what they made in the meeting.
Create a virtual gallery where everyone can add photos of their crafts and this will be a reminder of a fun activity the team got to do in the festive season.
If you really want to take advantage of the virtual aspect of this event, lean into what virtual meetings can do, such as syncing streaming networks!
If getting crafty in your daily activity scares you, consider how it could also be reflecting another aspect of yourself. 13.Virtual Movie Marathon

We used Teleparty to watch Elf together. Everyone joined the chat feature to comment on their favorite scenes. Midway through, someone shared a recipe for “Buddy’s Spaghetti” (with syrup and candy), and a brave colleague actually made it during the call.
You can set up a Virtual movie marathon for your team easily. Here’s how:
- Select a holiday themed movie that can be watched together.
- Use a tool like Teleparty to synchronize the viewing experience, so all participants can watch the movie at the same time. Teleparty also offers a chat function, allowing everyone to share their reactions and comments in real-time while watching the movie.
- Start a virtual meeting after the movie ends and discuss it with other participants.
This activity will make the members feel how wholesome it is to share a simple experience.
Call me sentimental, but one of the easiest things I enjoy doing is drawing and coloring. Remember, you don’t have to be a professional showcase it in a festive way–especially through virtual events.
14.Digital Holiday Card Exchange

One year, our team decided to exchange digital holiday cards instead of physical ones with given a theme: “Gratitude and Humor.” Each person used Canva to help design their own. My card featured a cartoon of Santa stuck in a chimney, with the caption: “Here’s to squeezing out one more great year together!” On the inside, I included a heartfelt thank-you note to my team for their support and collaboration.
We each presented our cards and explained the inspiration behind them. One colleague shared a card with a hilarious meme about procrastinating on wrapping gifts, while another had a beautifully designed card with a personal poem. This activity was heartwarming.
Here’s how you can get your party started:
- Select a digital platform for creating holiday cards, such as Canva, Adobe Spark, or even simple tools like Microsoft PowerPoint. They offer a lot of templates that can be used to create a variety of cards.
- Ask the participants to add personal touches to their cards. Then set up a card exchange by creating a shared folder on a cloud service like Google Drive or Dropbox where everyone in the team can upload their finished cards.
- Create a virtual gallery where everyone can upload their cards and browse . It will be a cute virtual keepsake for the team.
In this cold season, an activity can surely get your blood pumping–keeping everyone active and warm–but have you considered doing a costume contest? I know I love a good costume that keeps the cold out and the spirits in!
15.Seasonal Costume Contest

A seasonal costume competition can be a great idea to add some creativity and joy. We dia a seasonal costume contest once and everyone got creative. Dressing as a reindeer with antlers and a red nose won me “Most Creative.” A colleague dressed as a snowman with marshmallows glued to their outfit which was insanely hilarious.
Here are some simple and effective guidelines for your next occasion:
- Ask everyone to wear costumes of their favorite characters associated with the holiday season like Santa, reindeer or elves. Categorize the costumes such as ‘The Funniest,’ ‘The Most Creative’. Then award the best ones.
- Organize a virtual costume parade where everyone can dress up and show everyone what they are wearing on a video call.
- The costume parade can be a great opportunity for everyone to see the effort and imagination of their colleagues.
Not only does dressing up get you all cozy and warm, but it can reveal who’s the most humorous to the most creative.
Sometimes, we do get those thoughts during the holidays about how lucky we may be to be able to celebrate it with others. I know I do, which is why I try to give back where I can. Keep reading to see how you can do exactly that with your workmates.
16.Charity Fundraiser or Volunteering Event

Organizing a team charity event, such as a virtual fundraiser or donation drive, can make others and you feel good. It is a meaningful way to give back to the community during the holiday season. For our virtual volunteering event, we made digital holiday cards for a local nursing home.
Seeing everyone’s heartfelt messages reminded me of the true spirit of giving.
You can organize such events too. Here are some ways to do that:
- Start by selecting a cause that resonates with your team to partner with.
- Use GoFundMe or JustGiving to host a virtual fundraising event or coordinate a donation drive for items like clothes, toys, or food. To make the event interactive, introduce a leaderboard to track donations or volunteer hours.
- A team volunteering challenge is another great idea for a Fundraiser. The participants can contribute their time and skills remotely, such as by tutoring, mentoring, or supporting a community project.
- Create team-based challenges and set different milestones with rewards for hitting a target. Keep the team updated on the progress and celebrate milestones.
A Fundraiser can bring the team closer by giving back to the community while remaining true to what the holiday stands for – love and joy.
However, for those of us who wants to knock out two birds with one stone during this festive time, why not consider an activity that is both fun and one that helps you to liven up your own office space? Keep reading to find out what this particular activity is!
17.Virtual Office Decorating Contest

Last December, we hosted a Virtual Office Decorating Contest.
I decided on a “Winter Wonderland” theme, using cotton batting for faux snow, blue fairy lights, and a mini polar bear figurine perched on my laptop. A teammate went all out with a “Gingerbread Office” theme, wrapping their entire desk in brown craft paper and adding candy cane stripes with red tape. One person surprised us with a “Holiday Movie Tribute,” complete with decorations inspired by Home Alone and Elf, and even played snippets of iconic movie lines!
You can ask your team members to decorate their home office space during the holidays. Here are some easy steps:
- Set up a specific theme . Provide ideas to each other for decorations.
- Do a virtual meeting where everyone gives a tour of their decorated workspace. Make sure to acknowledge everyon’s efforts.
- Create categories like ‘ Most Creative, or ‘Coziest Office Space’. Do voting by an online poll for the contest and send some e-gift cards or holiday-themed items to the winners.
I like this activity a lot because it effectively livens up your workspace and brings in that intentional seasonal air.
Now, if you prefer a gift that you can take home, look no further because you are in it for the secret recipe. Keep scrolling to find out what I meean!
18.Secret Recipe Swap

Our team did a virtual secret recipe swap for holidays and it was a hit. I shared my grandmother’s recipe for gingerbread cookies, which included a secret ingredient (molasses) for a deeper flavor. In return, I received a recipe for an eggnog cheesecake that became a new favorite at my family’s holiday dinner.
The best part was trying out these recipes and sharing photos during a follow-up Zoom call. Everyone shared tips, funny cooking mishaps, and even their kids’ or pets’ reactions to the new dishes. At the end, we compiled all the recipes into a digital holiday cookbook and added festive decorations to make it a memorable keepsake.
You can try it too.
- Invite team members to participate in a Recipe Swap by asking them to submit their favorite holiday recipes.
- Collect all the recipes and assign a random recipe to each participant. The participants can prepare those recipes and then share photos and feedback with the team.
- Make a digital recipe book where all the recipes are compiled together. Share it with the team so everyone can keep it and try the recipes.
I know that cooking might not be everyone’s forte, but there are alternatives where you don’t have to do everything from scratch. With Christmas comes sweet treats, and where better to start than cookies?
19.Online Cookie Decorating Party

Online cookie decorating party is always a classic for people of all ages.
For my virtual event, we mailed cookies to each other’s addresses. When I opened my package to find peppermint bark and gingerbread cookies, it felt like Christmas morning. During our video call, we all shared the stories behind our recipes.
You can set up a virtual meeting where everyone can bring their cookies and decorate them together.
- Send a cookie decorating kit to team members before the party or share a list of basic supplies.
- Hold a mini-contest where the Most Creative or Best Designed cookie is awarded.
- Ask everyone to vote for the best looking cookies through an online poll. Announce winners and enjoy eating the cookies together.
If you’re scared of bringing in too much sweets over the holidays, I vouch for doing an activity that lets you morph into any character you want without the extra calories: virtual photo booth time!
20.Virtual Holiday Photo Booth with Festive Props

For one party, I donned reindeer antlers, held a digital candy cane prop, and used a snowy background that made it look like I was in the North Pole. One colleague dressed as Santa, complete with a green screen showing a sleigh behind him. We used Snap Camera filters for fun effects like snowflakes and twinkling lights.
The host compiled all the photos into a slideshow, set to Jingle Bell Rock, which we shared as part of a digital holiday card at the end of the event.
You can add some festive fun to your holidays as well by hosting a virtual holiday photo booth.
- Ask everyone to gather their festive props like Santa Hats, Reindeer Antlers or festive Scarves. Start the meeting on Zoom or other video sharing platforms and ask everyone to show off their props.
- Team members can add holiday themed filters on their faces with the zoom meeting app. Take screenshots of each other during the meeting and ask everyone to take pictures with their festive props.
- Gather all the pictures and screenshots in a shared album and use Google Photos or Adobe Spark to make a slideshow or a video compiling all the photos with a holiday themed background music.
I know of a lot of us might in favor of this because printing and cutting cut-outs is the easiest activity to clean-up. Or, if you’re someone who loves to reuse things, keep it for the next occasion!
Now, the ultimate way to show your team that you’re thankful for them beyond just their hard work is to hold a recognition and awards ceremony. Find out how to do just that in this next section!

21.End-of-Year Recognition and Awards Ceremony

We have done end-of-year recognition and virtual awards ceremonies for the last three years now. Last year, we kicked off with a slideshow of the year’s highlights, including team achievements and funny behind-the-scenes moments from Zoom meetings.
The awards ranged from serious categories like “Outstanding Leadership” to lighthearted ones like “Best Virtual Background” and “Most Likely to Unmute While Sneezing.” I received “Best Team Spirit,” and the organizer mailed a small trophy with a heartfelt note, which made it even more special.
Between awards, we played short holiday-themed games like “Guess That Holiday Song” to keep the energy lively. The ceremony ended with a toast to the year’s successes and individual shoutouts for each team member’s contributions.
You can hold a virtual End-of-Year Recognition and award ceremony to appreciate the efforts of the team members.
- Do a virtual meeting on zoom where everyone celebrates the team’s achievements. Encourage participants to dress up for the occasion and use virtual holiday-themed backgrounds.
- Create categories like ‘ Most Hardworking’ , ‘Most Creative Problem Solver’ and ‘Best Team Spirit’. Announce winners in the meeting and send e-gifts or Certificates of Recognition.
Across all boards, this activity lets others know that they are more than what their job title means. It’s important to recognize the human behind the company’s progress at the end of the day.
Now, if you also want another fun game with gifts as incentives for winners, let’s bring back another holiday classic: Bingo!
22.Virtual Holiday Bingo

Our holiday bingo game was a hit! The bingo cards featured festive items like “mistletoe,” “snow globe,” and “ugly sweater.” As the host called out items, participants shared fun anecdotes about them, like one person describing the 20-year-old stockings their grandmother knit. I managed to get a bingo with the last item, “Hot Chocolate,” and won a holiday candle set.
A fast-paced and interactive event with people cheering each other on and joking about their near-misses. For extra fun, the host threw in random mini-challenges, like showing a holiday mug for bonus points.
Plan a virtual holiday bingo with your colleagues with these easy and achievable steps:
- Make bingo cards with symbols, mottos associated with the holiday, or even objects from work. Create them using online templates through Canva or Adobe Spark.
- Prepare your bingo cards and share PDFs versions with team members via email or a shared documents.
- Conduct the bingo session and call out the items using Zoom or Microsoft teams. As each item is called, participants mark their squares.
- Give prizes to players who are the first to get bingo. Such prizes can be: gift cards, online subscriptions, virtual certificates.
Now that we’re talk about holiday classics, another one that most of us might be familiar with involves dancing to your favorite festive song.
23.Online Dance Party with Holiday Playlist

Plan an online Holiday Dance party with your team members. We did it last year and it was so much fun. Dancing to Jingle Bell Rock in a Santa hat was exhilarating. A colleague’s moonwalk with reindeer antlers was a highlight.
You can create a Holiday playlist on Spotify and share it with everyone.
- Do the dance party in a virtual meeting.
- Play the songs from the playlist and ask everyone to show their best dance moves.
This game is a quick and active activity that can get everyone from all age to be involved in. Plus, it’s a great way to see who knows their holiday songs throughout the decades.
Now if you’re in a pinch for time to prepare for a holiday-themed event, don’t worry because I’ve got you covered in this next section!
24.Virtual Holiday Storytelling

We had a virtual holiday storytelling session two years back when work was shifting online due to COVID-19. Everyone shared holiday memories. One teammate recounted the time they got snowed in at an airport on Christmas Eve and made friends with strangers by singing carols. It was heartwarming.
You can invite the team members for a virtual holiday storytelling session as well.
- Ask everyone to tell their memorable holiday stories.
- Dress up in the Holiday theme and use festive virtual backgrounds. Team members can take turns telling their stories.
Make memories by sharing your personal favorites. The trade-off can result in laughter, horror, or even affection.
Now, we are almost through our entire list. The last one is a classic that everyone’s grandma knows all too well too: Holiday-Themed Game Show time!
25.Holiday–Themed Game Show

A holiday themed game show can be a winner in the virtual holiday party ideas.
We turned a regular Zoom meeting into a holiday-themed game show, complete with jingles and a festive host wearing a Santa hat. The games included a holiday trivia round (e.g., “What’s the highest-grossing holiday movie?”), a rapid-fire “Name That Holiday Tune” challenge, and a Pictionary session with holiday words like “mistletoe” or “snowman.”
My favorite moment was when someone hilariously misinterpreted “Elf on the Shelf” as a scuba-diving elf! The game show ended with a lightning round with our teams scored points throughout. The winning group also received gift cards.
Here’s how you can get started:
- Prepare a set of holiday related questions using Kahoot or Google Slides. Run a holiday themed game show like Family Feud or Jeopardy.
- Introduce fun categories like Holiday Traditions, Festive Food trivia or popular holiday movies. Divide the participants in teams and award points for correct answers.
- Assign prizes to the winning teams.
If you’ve made it this far, that means that you’re know full of ideas on how to make your upcoming virtual event even more fun than before.
Hang tight before you go. Let’s do one final recap about what we’ve just learned from this article in this last section.
