Instead of endlessly waiting to be loved by someone, why not start loving yourself?
For a moment in time, there was a point where the woman in the mirror didn’t look happy. I realized that that woman I saw was me and how I felt on the inside began to reflect how I saw myself on the outside. However, there’s been a couple things that have since helped me become a better version of myself.
There are many things I love about yourself and you can too, but they should always reflect who you really are beyond all the layers of what makes you you. For me, there are easily 135 Things I Love About Myself That Reflect My True Self. These are not just random traits but helpful aspects that truly showcase who I am.
Self-love helps you embrace every aspect of yourself, from your body to your personality. It doesn’t exclude flaws; instead, it helps you understand where improvement is needed to become a secured, more comfortable, and powerful version of yourself.
Rather than judging or criticizing your own soul, self-love allows you to find happiness within. Doesn’t that sound warm and inviting?
Self-love leads to greater life satisfaction and a deeper sense of meaning. Regardless of your age, it can positively impact your mental and physical well-being.
Here’s what you need to know about self-love and self-acceptance.
Why Is Self-Acceptance Important?
Self-love is self-acceptance. True love is supposed to be unconditional, so when you love yourself do it with no boundaries.
Personal growth is directly linked to self-acceptance – you’re not alone in the journey if you feel this way right now.
According to The Body Shop Global Self Love Index who surveyed over 22.000 people from over 21 countries, the report indicated that nearly half of the respondents identified with more self-doubt than self-love.
If you feel as though you may resonate as being part of this statistic, here are some common reasons for why.
Maybe you didn’t apply to a job because you thought you were under-qualified. Maybe you said no to a dress because you felt insecure about your body. Maybe you wished you could have done things differently and blame yourself for it. No matter the situation, self-love can be applied to every part of your life at any time as long as you give it a try.
However, keeping in mind that this self-love transformation does not come overnight. With certainty, you will face days where it may feel hard and more overwhelming to feel self-love – I know I’ve had my fair shares. The reality is, making progress sometimes may mean facing the ups and downs of life. Allow yourself to be okay with taking two steps back if that means you get to take a step forward the next day.
Once you allow yourself to accept yourself for who you are, you will stop doubting yourself when it is not needed. You will stop envying others by comparing yourself to your neighbor next door. You will be ready to address problems in your life with a stronger mindset and will make more confident decisions for your life.
It can be a long process; it can take years for some. It isn’t supposed to be easy. So, let’s start with a list, a long list at that…
